Terra Tunic Review
Overall the pattern came together nicely, the instructions were clear and concise due to the rigorous review by all the testers. I do like this pattern, the boatneck was a nice choice. The facing lined up perfectly and the fit was perfect. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m 5’9″, I have a long torso and broad shoulders. I sewed a size (S), I was a bit nervous about that. The thing is I was a bit worried it wouldn’t fit because I used a Ponte knit.
However! The sizing is on point and in the future when using knits or jersey,I would go down a size. Naturally, it would depend on the stretch of the knit fabric.
For this Tunic, I wanted to make it special, I know that white fabric sometimes tends to be boring, based on the style you are sewing. With that in mind, I added high-quality gold metal shank buttons from Mood Fabric. They really elevate the look of the tunic.
As you may know, I’m not a loose-fitting clothing kind of girl. So I had to really think this one through. I knew that jeans were out. The fact is the pockets on jeans were very visible with my white Tunic and that isn’t a flattering look. It would have been nice if I had a pair of flat-front cigarette pants, but leggings will have to do. Luckily I had a blue fitness legging (Shhh don’t tell anyone), that worked beautifully.
Next was footwear, I did not want to showcase the hem of the legging. I wanted a buttoned-up, smart look. The additions of my cowboy boots did the trick, the outfit looks amazing. I love how it all came together.
Pattern Testing Thoughts
In the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to take part in this pattern test. I typically wear more form-fitting tops. But it’s a new year and I’m always up for a challenge, I wanted to see how my styling skills have grown. Tunics aren’t my favorite garment, but I wanted to make it work for my personality.
The presentation of Love Notions patterns is beautiful. I love the color scheme used as well as the fonts and overall aesthetics. Not to mention the illustration. It’s worth noting because a good presentation is something I look for with all my purchases.
