Well, it looks like Fall is finally here for most in the US. The temps are getting cooler but in Texas, we still have days that get as high as 90 degrees. Let’s chat about my last sewn summer dress. Last week I shared my last summer 2021 make and I love how it turned out. This dress is perfect for hot summer days and this fabric provides that easy-breezy life we all want to experience. The featured fabric is the beautiful Florence Cotton Voile Fabric in pink.
This is 100% cotton with zero stretch, it’s approximately 58.3inches wide and has to most beautiful flow. It was a joy to sew with this fabric due to its light hand, be mindful that it’s sheer and may need a lining depending on your pattern choice.
The fabric was pre-washed and as you can see from the photos, the color is still vibrant. If you love floral prints then this would be a great option for pleated skirts, blouses & shirts with intricate details.
Are you looking for a quick make that packs a summery feminine punch? Look no further, this is the one. The lines are simple yet strategically placed to create a fantastic pattern. It meets all the requirements of the tiered & ties trend and comes with 3 versions.
After sewing this pattern, I’m guessing with a little hacking you can sew this up with a structured knit and make a fun fall dress. Styling with a simple tee under to create a whole new look.
My dress was cut at a size 12, the completed project had no alterations and fit my 5’9’ athletic frame perfectly.
Styling A Simple Summer dress
This dress really put me in a happy mood. I wanted to create an amazing themed photoshoot and decided to work with a rustic basket, flowers in the fields. This is a look I would wear to the farmer’s market or out shopping on the weekend.
The second look is more rustic and perfect for Texas heat and lifestyle. With the simple addition of a statement belt, a hat & a denim jacket, I elevated this to a whole level of cool.
What are your thoughts?
Do you like the fabric and pattern pairing for this project? I think it’s a showstopper. Have you sewn this pattern before? If so – Do you love it and would recommend it?
I hope you enjoyed this post, I’m excited to share my next one really soon.
Have an amazing week.
