The Little Red Dress Project Planning

With November right around the corner, I am seriously starting to think about my Red Dress! At this point I feel like I’ve made my choice. Although I’m going for function, my choice is still somewhat sexy! Have you seen the “Me Before You” Red Dress!

Things I love about this dress

  1. The Neckline: Although not too revealing, this is a sexy neckline and I love how it angles towards her neck almost creating a halter effect.
  2. The Mid Section: This portion is reminiscence of a fairy tale gown. I really like how structured this section is. It’s really hugging her midriff.
  3. The Cap Sleeve: What I really love about this is how much it looks and feel as if it’s an extension of the neckline
  4. The Box Pleat: This is by far my most loved detail of the dress. Mainly because it accentuate the waistline.

Honestly, I’m not sure what pattern I will use for this, but I have found a few options that might work. I would definitely have to hack the pattern. I think each pattern below has potential in the design. I was hoping to find a McCall’s pattern to hack but no such luck.

In August I picked up some red fabric, but I don’t think I have enough yardage for the “Me Before You” dress. This Satin and lace combo will make a lovely dress. This fabric are my fall back if I can’t work the above dress into the challenge. I really love Ditta Von Tesse’s dresses and Gertie’s Pattern really reflects her style. If all else fails, I’ll find one of Ditta’s phenomenal dresses to make.

If you are looking for inspiration, look no further than pinterest and google search.  There is a vast ocean of visual candy out there.

With so many wonderful dresses as inspiration, it becomes difficult to choose and we find ourselves  procrastinating. When this is the case, I would say to consider the use of the dress. How often you will use or plan to wear it. Do you plan to learn a new skill with the project. By listing your priority it will be able to narrow your options, and maybe start with 5 possible dresses to whittle down. Don’t forget to think about the fabric you would like to work with.

Hopefully this assists you with your Little Red Dress Project!

Does the fabric and pattern have to be purchased from one of the sponsors.
Can you select your own pattern & fabric from whom you desire?
Do you we send the photo of the finished product to you or just tag on IG during the reveal period?

Can the dress have a print like polka dots? I want to make something like the red dress from “because I said so” or the one from “as good as it gets”. I love the polka dot pouring and buttons are necessary for breastfeeding
